Dennis Jay
Dennis Jay has the sort of deep, emotive voice that exudes authenticity and commands attention. This aptly titled collection is pure country but doesn’t have all that much to do with Nashville. You can hear a bit of the Bakersfield sound, a hint of Tex-Mex, some Western swing, and a good deal of the pop-friendly approach of Marty Robbins and Jim Reeves. Pedal-steel player Lloyd Maines (father of the Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines) produced and leads the consummate backup crew, which spices Jay’s vocals with fiddle, banjo, accordion, and more. Highlights include “The Thorns of Your Roses,” a beguiling duet with Austin, Texas-based Lisa Gamache, and a reading of the cowboy standard, “Streets of Laredo.”

Paula Maya & Manny Flores... live at ADC
The holidays are right around the corner and we can't think of a more fun way to celebrate and enjoy the holidays than with Brazilian singer/songwriter, Paula Maya. Join us for dinner, music and holiday cheer!
INSIDE WORLD MUSIC 4-22-2015
The jazzy, South American styles of Texas-based, Paula Maya, incorporates Brazilian melodies with folk, roots, electronica, and pop on Iluminar. The soft ballads and Brazilian percussion reveal an intimate side of Paula's music. It is very enjoyable and steeped in swirling melodies and rhythms of South America. Whether you are on an island, on the beaches of Rio, or in the comfort of your living room, Iluminar lights up any mood or situation with grace and authenticity. "So In Tune" showcases some great vocals here. Crystal-clear vocals and an uppity melody cements a beautiful song to her credit. The light vocals are indicative of Susan Aglukark's voicings. At any rate, Paula Maya creates a stunning release of pop-friendly songs with a good dose of South American pizzazz.
