Prehistoric Tracking Schedule:

4 pm – 6 pm:  Special DinoTrack tour with Dr. Eric Kappus and Insights’ DinoTracks guides (directions to the trail head in Sunland Park will be emailed to you upon ticket purchase)
6 pm – 7 pm:   DinoTrack dinner served at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing
7 pm – 8 pm:  Prehistoric Tracking talk by Dr. Eric Kappus

*This two course dinner will be served in Ardovino’s banquet facility located in a separate building from the main restaurant. As regular menu items may be limited during this event, we encourage hungry guests attending the Prehistoric Tracking Nerd Night to select the Herbivore Dinosaur Dinner.

Dr. Eric Kappus

Dr. Eric Kappus is a professor at Southwest University at El Paso. He is also a Research Paleontologist for New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, a Research Associate Professor at UTEP, and an Education Consultant. Holding a Ph.D. and a Masters degree in Geological Sciences from the University of Texas at El Paso, Dr. Kappus researches trace fossils, sense of place, and environmental education. He discovered the only dinosaur footprints in the El Paso/Juarez region, as well as the oldest trace fossils in El Paso. Dr. Kappus is also a five-time graduate from Tom Brown’s Tracking, Nature and Wilderness Survival School and is an expert in ethnobotany and aboriginal skills.
